21st Century

There were several unpleasant things about the last two days, but yesterday (well, really, Wednesday, if we count seeing the below on TV once) had  an absolutely great addition to it. And that was my currently favourite song. I have been humming it for a few weeks now, because it is a song that makes me think of how our world and interpersonal relationships have changed in the past decade. It greatly reminds of The Great Gatsby, not because they have much in common, but because what it describes was already present in Daisy and the other heroes (anti-heroes?) of that classic.

Yes, new video! Harel Skaat's second single from the much expected third album, titled 21st Century. The video is rather simple, lacking the extravagant costumes of Lady Gaga and the gazillion dancers and action we get from many of the MTV videos. It's a simple video, shot in one room of Harel Skaat's home. That simple. Yet, great.

In addition to having a nice melody, a superb voice to sing it and a handsome face to go with it, the song has thought provoking lyrics, too:

This tiredness
And this crowdedness
To pull your self up again, every morning
And when you get tired of chasing around your self
You are obligated to stand up straight

And all what is in this city
All the this commotion
To expose your self again each night
And you just feel like erasing yourself
To feel a little drop of reality

And how I wanted you to be real
So you would you come to talk to me
And how I wanted you to be real
So you would come to embrace me
Maybe I was less alone
With you and not in a chase
Maybe we will get to the end of the battle
We will touch, we will rest and we will love

This ritual , and this virtual
That everyone likes to flow to this dream
To this hell, that leads to no were
And how I wanted you to be real
So you would you come to talk to me

And how I wanted you to be real
So you would come to embrace me
Maybe I was less alone
With you and not in a chase
Maybe we will get to the end of the battle
We will touch, we will rest and we will love

We got crazy from loneliness
And we got lost
In a fast world
We forgot to talk
